Counselling and Advocacy

The Battlefords & Area Sexual Assault Centre is committed to supporting survivors of sexual assault and/or abuse through the provision of accessible counselling and advocacy services. Our counsellors and staff are caring, experienced, and qualified individuals who are dedicated to supporting survivors through their healing journey. Our counsellors also support survivor’s family, friends, and loved ones as they participate in the survivor’s journey. In addition, BASAC is invested in the healing of our communities from lasting effects of sexual violence.

Our counselling methods are based on current, scientific research and on the experience of our counsellors. Furthermore, our counselling staff compliment client goals with practical tools and coping mechanisms empowering the client to make strides in their healing journey. BASAC strives to promote the needs of our clients in their healing process. Various advocacy services such as RCMP/Police accompaniment, court accompaniment, medical support, education, and referrals are available to our clients free of charge. These services are available for short or long-term periods.
